Many will confirm, I was born to be a storyteller.

Fast Facts About Me

  1. 12+ years experience creating content across a variety of deliverables—print, digital, you name it.

  2. Writer and editor with agency experience (I know all about the creative process, the hustle and bustle in these collaborative environments.)

  3. Specialize in partnering with in-house nonprofit marketing teams who are on a mission to change lives

  4. Comfortable switching tone and voice from creative to technical based on the audience of the campaign/project

  5. Long form and short form—social, grants/proposals, blogs, web copy, newsletters, direct mail, email campaigns, press releases, curriculum. (When I say “you name it,” I mean it.)

My writing business has grown entirely word of mouth. Someone told me recently that this speaks volumes about the quality of my work. I’m so grateful for those who have partnered with me and then passed my name along to others who are looking for writing and editing support. It has allowed me the opportunity to work with professionals across a broad range of industries, including: human services nonprofits, pharmaceutical and life sciences, real estate, branding and design, women’s media, food and hospitality, the arts, and faith-based.

If you’ve found yourself saying, “Good writers are hard to find,” then you’ve come to the right place. Words are my speciality.

A Little More About My Journey

In 2015, I packed my Toyota Camry with everything I owned for a road trip to move to a new time zone. At Dallas Theological Seminary, I pursued my gifting in creative writing that started when I was a little girl, writing stories on the typewriter at my family's lake house in North Carolina. My time in Dallas gave me a master's degree, a renewed spirit for creative writing with heart and soul, and a slew of new additions to my inner circle.

My full-time freelancing, business-owning journey started in November 2018. Every year since, I have worked with new clients, exceeded my income from my days working a traditional 9-to-5 job, and started a family along the way.

You know that ice breaker question that's about what you like to do for fun? My answer: "I like to write essays." Seriously, writing essays is like a day on a tropical island for me where you forget to check your phone and have no sense of time. (You can explore more of that writing over here.) As a regular contributor to Upworthy, I wrote several viral essays that brought in hundreds of thousands of page views and connected me to readers across the world.

In my first year as a full-time professional writer, I wrote for Oprah! You can read more about how I landed that gig here on my blog, and you can read the essay over here on O, The Oprah Magazine.

I've spent the last decade+ as a storyteller in various marketing and communications roles in agency, nonprofit, editorial, ministry, and education environments. I love a good strategy when it comes to storytelling: how can we step back for that big picture WHY?

I traded my 9-to-5 cubicle for a life with space for creativity.

Because, for me, writing supplies the same lifeline as breathing.

The Technical Stuff: I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Communication with a minor in Writing from McDaniel College.
